These are the best places to work in Australia

In August, Great Place to Work Australia released its annual 50 Best Places to Work list, with each company earning a rating based on two different metrics.

From the employee perspective, there are several key elements, including credibility, trust, fairness, respect, camaraderie and pride. For managers, trust remains the central pillar and is based around objectives such as hiring, inspiring, celebrating, developing, speaking, listening, sharing, caring and thanking.

There are three individual categories based on the company size; over 1000 employees, 100-999 employees and under 100 employees.

Salesforce topped the charts for companies with 1000+ employees, with the sales software giant recently introducing a program that incentivises their staff to give back to the community, with the top 100 volunteers eligible for a US$10,000 grant for a non-profit of their choice.

For the 100-999 employee range, local online design tool Canva took the number one mantle, a company where each team is run as a ‘little startup’ with autonomy over their projects. There is also a dedicated ‘Vibe team’ which is responsible to maintain a happy and productive workforce.

Sunshine Coast-based Avenue Dental were recognised as the best workplace with less than 100 staff, a testament to the group’s BOB (Bringing Out the Best in others policy), a role filled by individuals at each practice that involves coaching and promoting the professional development of employees.
